Dec 28, 1946 - Apr 25, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Father and Grandpa, Walter on April 25, 2024 at 77 years of age. Reunited with his beloved wife of 43 years, Gloria (2015). Father to his adored daughter, Lee-Anne Valley (Steve Smith). Cherished grandpa to his pal, Owen. Predeceased by his parents, Wendel and Francis. Walter will be missed by his many brothers, sisters and extended family. He will be remembered as Wild Wally, stubborn but loving. The man that knew every back road in every city across Ontario. He had a passion for hunting, fishing, the casino, going for car rides and watching sports with his son-law, Steve. He was just an outdoor guy who wanted to live back in the bush. Walter took great pride in being a grandpa, his family was his greatest joy. In lieu of flowers or donations, please treat yourself to a fish and chips dinner, Chinese or a meal of your choice and cheers to Wally. Cremation has taken place as per Walter’s wishes. A celebration of life to be announced in the coming weeks.

John (Ian) McCulloch

John (Ian) McCulloch

June 09, 1933 - April 25, 2024

Jun 09, 1933 - Apr 25, 2024

Our wonderful father passed away quietly at the age of 90, travelling to heaven to reunite with Mom, who, upon welcoming him, certainly said, “I knew you couldn’t live without me.” John (Ian) McCulloch is survived by his five children who loved and respected him, and will miss him always: Elizabeth Fernandez (Ed), Jean Turriff (Lindsay), Mary Anne Mileham (Timothy), Robert McCulloch and Georgette McCulloch (Jamie Jefferson). He was so proud of his six grandchildren and loved them dearly: Casey McCulloch (Kyle Potter), Kristina Fernandez (Tyler McLeod), Jenelle McCulloch, Samantha Heans (Rob), Cooper Jefferson and Jordi Jefferson. Dad leaves behind family in Scotland, Florida and the surviving members of the Stanko family, whom he loved very much. He had many friends, especially his lifelong best friends, Bruno and Yvonne Cote. Dad’s neighbours were gracious and kind, especially Mary McDermott, daughters Sheila and Kathryn and Brian Janisse, his buddy. Dad was born in Kilwinning, Scotland, the only child of Robert and Elizabeth (Blair) McCulloch. During the Second World War, when his father, a Sergeant in the Royal Artillery, left for England, and his mother went to work at ICI, an explosives manufacturing plant, Dad was raised by his Granny, Jean Blair. As a teenager, Dad won a coveted electrical apprenticeship with ICI. His mother passed away before he graduated. His father died in 1970. Dad arrived in Windsor on July 22, 1954. He sailed from Scotland to New York, flew to Toronto then took a train to Windsor. He was hired as an electrician at Chrysler that same day. He met Georgette Stanko at the Embassy Tavern three years later. After a three-month courtship, they married in September 1957. Mom and Dad celebrated 63 years together before Mom passed away in 2021. His life wasn’t the same without our beautiful mother, but he did his best. Dad was a maintenance supervisor at Chrysler and retired after 30 years of service. He was a former president of Motorco 3 Credit Union (now Motor City Community Credit Union). After he retired from Chrysler, Dad worked as a dealer at Casino Windsor and as a travel agent for Ticket Wicket Travel. Dad loved to travel, and he did, to Russia, India, Egypt, China and all points in between. He was always planning his next trip. Dad also drove a limousine for VIP until he retired for good in his late 80s. Thanks for always being there for us Dad. Love you forever! We would like to thank Father Greg Bonin for his spiritual guidance. Thank you to the staff at Huron Lodge for taking wonderful care of Dad for the few months he was there. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice. Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 5, 2024 from 4-7 p.m. at Families First, 1065 Lauzon Road, East Windsor (519-969-5841). Family and friends are invited to meet at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church on Monday, May 6, 2024 for visitation from 10 a.m. until time of funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Cremation to follow.
